Title: The state of the art in smart structural inspection, monitoring and evaluation techniques for long-span bridges
Bio:
Prof. Chen is a professor in Department of Bridge Engineering, Tongji University. He is currently the vice director of the Bridge and Structural Engineering Branch of China Highway & Transportation Society, board members of Executive Committee of International Association for Bridge Maintenance and Safety (IABMAS) and International Association for Life-Cycle Civil Engineering (IALCCE). His main research interests include structural topology optimization, intelligent inspection and monitoring techniques for bridges, multi-physics and multi-scale numerical simulation technique, and resilience design and evaluation methods for bridges under multiple disasters. The research achievements have been successfully applied in more than 80 bridges, such as Runyang bridge, Sutong bridge, and Hangzhou Bay bridge. Prof. Chen has published more than 300 papers, 12 books, 3 industrial specifications as the editor-in-chief, and received National Science Progress Awards twice and multiple provincial and ministerial awards.
