Bio:

Professor Kenichi Kawaguchi received his PhD from University of Tokyo, after graduated from Waseda University, and is a professor of the University of Tokyo having his laboratory at Institute of Industrial Science. He is a Vice President of IASS, International Association of Shell and Spatial Structures. He is also the president of Membrane Structure Association Japan. He deals with various topics of researches related to lightweight or large roof structures from theoretical studies and practical realizations; numerical analysis of flexible structures, damage investigation of large roof structures, safety of non-structural components in large rooms, development of seismic devices and application of living trees to structural skeletons. He has been involved in many practical projects. In particular, he runs a structural design office, after his father, and is leading practical structural designs, there.
