Qualifications:  B.E (Civil) - BMSCE, Bangalore – 1979, M.E (Prestressed Concrete Structures) - UVCE, Bangalore University –1984, Ph D., Civil Engg. (Structures), Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore – 1995

Academic Experience (1980 – 2003): More than 20 years in teaching, research and consultancy as Professor of Civil Engineering at M. S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore. In addition to teaching UG/PG students and guiding research, undertook several repairs, rehabilitation and retrofitting consultancy through MSRIT

Industry Experience (2003-2022)

Worked as General Manager – Technical and Business Development at BBR (India) Pvt. Ltd., - a franchisee of BBR-VT Intl., Switzerland, a leader in prestressing industry.  Involved in design and execution of post-tensioning in building and infrastructure sector

Joined UltraTech Cement Ltd., - An Aditya Birla Group Company in 2007. Worked as Head of Building Products Division.

Elevated as Joint President and Head, Technical Services in 2010 and with more than 800 engineers spread across the country, was responsible for the quality monitoring of cement, technical assistance to customers. Served as Technical Advisor at UltraTech Cement Ltd., from 2016 till October 2021

Consultancy Experience (1984 -2022)

• Involved in consultancy works in the field of Structural Design, Non-Destructive Testing, Evaluation and Rehabilitation of Structures from 1984 onwards
• Empanelled as advisor for proof-checking and field quality audit of National Games Housing Project and proof checking of designs of Stadia built for National Games 1997.
• Designed several multi-storey buildings, funnel shaped overhead tanks etc., for Shanti Builders, Cozy Homes, Shankarnarayan builders and others
• Was appointed as Third-Party Quality Inspection agency for screed works at T2 Terminal of Bangalore International Airport Ltd by Larsen & Toubro Ltd between June 2021 and March 2022 and Bangalore International Airports Ltd., till Sept. 2022.
• Was appointed as Owner’s Consultant to KSCA for the repair and rehabilitation of Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru (Project cost ₹ 100 million plus)
• Practicing as Independent Consultant in the field of Repairs, Rehabilitation and Structural Engineering

Involvement in Activities of Professional Bodies (1984 -2022)

Actively involved in several professional bodies.

• Fellow of Indian Association of Structural Engineers and Ex-VP (South) of IAStructE. 
• Fellow of Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India) and Ex-Secretary General (2005-07)
• Was Chairman, Organising Committee for Structural Engineers World Congress(SEWC) 2007 and is presently GC member of SEWC-India.
• Member of Indian Concrete Institute (ICI)
  • President of ICI (2015-17).
  • Presently Chairman, Technical Board at ICI
• Was VP of Asian Concrete Federation (ACF) for the years 2017 and 2018

• Actively involved in organizing several national and international conferences
• Was AICTE-INAE Distinguished Visiting Professor to BMSCE from 2012 till 2017.
• Has been honoured with Eminent Engineer Award by Institution of Engineers (India) at their Annual Convention in 2018
• UKIERI Concrete Congress honoured him in March 2019 by dedicating one conference in his name.
• Was presented the ICI LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD in September  2022.
